“Cross a lake without getting wet” – Dr. Sam
Born from Dr. C. Samuel Micklus’ (Dr. Sam) industrial design classes at Rowan University in the 1970’s, Odyssey of the Mind (OM™) has been challenging students to solve unique problems using original solutions for over 50 years. What started with Dr. Sam’s “quirky” classes, where he would ask his students to create creative solutions to problems, such as his infamous challenge of crossing a lake without getting wet, is now a global competition. At the highest level of competition, World Finals, hundreds of teams, coaches, and volunteers from around the world come together to prove that creative problem-solving has no boundaries.
