I Wish School Was Like This When I Was a Kid
Often times we hear our parents say that they wish they could have gone to a school like Clariden when they were a kid. So what is it that makes Clariden such a great learning environment? Here’s a few facts about Clariden:
1. The Clariden School of Southlake is an accredited private school, servicing students 3 years through high school.
2. Our learning environment is rich in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math. Often referred to as STEAM.
3. Our award-winning curriculum challenges students in big ways. For example, we compete in the world’s largest rocketry competition, Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC)
4. We prepare our students well for college. Clariden students’ SAT and ACT scores are above the state and national averages.
5. We offer Honors and Dual Credit/Concurrent courses (Dual Credit/Concurrent courses allow high school students to earn both high school credit and college credit at the same time).
6. Clariden teachers are highly educated. Many hold Master’s degrees as well as their teaching certification(s). Clariden teachers love teaching at Clariden. We have low teacher turnover.
7. Class size is small. For kindergarten through high school, our student to classroom teacher ratio is a maximum of 15 students to 1 teacher. This allows the teacher to spend quality time with each student.
8. Clariden values the Arts. We offer Art, Design, Music, Dance, and Theatre.
9. Clariden offers foreign language, physical education and a variety of electives.
10. Project-based Learning is what we specialize in. In addition to students learning through our rich core (Math, Science, Social Studies & Language Arts) curriculum, students engage in a series of projects throughout the school year. Projects can last 4 to 12 weeks, allowing students to gain an in-depth understanding of the concepts, skills and knowledge presented.
11. Clariden believes in learning through field study. Clariden students participate in field study throughout the school year. Field study is typically tied to a project and/or to a particular area of study. For example, as a part of the weather project, our 2nd and 3rd grade students traveled to the National Weather Center located at the University of Oklahoma. They were quite amazed that the weather for all of the USA is determined at one location (The National Weather Center), and equally as thrilled and amazed to be on a college campus.
12. Clariden is not only interested in developing our students’ academic ability we are interested in guiding them in learning what it means to be a good citizen. Our character curriculum promotes respect, politeness, integrity, leadership, honesty, and self-discipline. To be a person with strong character matters at Clariden.
13. Clariden students have the opportunity to participate in after school clubs, competitions such as Odyssey of the Mind, independent study, internships, and Math Lab.
14. Clariden students love school. How do we know? Our younger students run into the building in the morning. Our older students during summer break text us saying that they can’t wait for school to start.
