Clariden Named State Champion for “Odyssey of the Mind” Competition 2017
HIGH SCHOOL TEAM HEADS TO WORLD FINALS IN MAY 2017
Southlake, TX – April 19, 2017 – The Clariden School, a North Texas leader in accredited, private PreK – High School STEAM education, today announced that their high school team was awarded first place at the State championship for the Odyssey of the Mind Competition 2017. The competition was held Saturday, April 8, in Houston, Texas. The Odyssey of the Mind Competition is reported to be “the largest international creative problem-solving competition worldwide” (https://www.odysseyofthemind.com).
Clariden advanced to the State finals after winning 1st place in the regional competition earlier this year. The team is made up of Caroline Morris, Skyler Wicke, Tyler Waldrop, Hannah Warner, Coby Warner, Nate Ruelas, and Brandon Burlison under the direction of Coach Brady Warner. Odyssey of the Mind is a club activity for students at Clariden. This was Clariden’s first time entering the competition.
“This is another great accomplishment for our high school students,” commented Sallie Wells, Head of School for The Clariden School. “On top of their rigorous academic work in robotics, rocketry, coding, journalism and more, the students did some amazing things in this new club. It shows not only their technical excellence but also their creative and artistic abilities to solve problems and communicate compelling stories. Special thanks to Coach Brady Warner for mentoring our team. Our Clariden students continue to amaze and inspire me.”
The world finals will be held May 24-27, 2017 at Michigan State University. Clariden will compete against more than 825 teams from across the globe.
